What Makes Wing Chun a superior Self-Defense art? 

Wing Chun uses scientifically proven principles to allow a person to defeat larger and faster opponents.

There are four main principles: Centerline Theory, Simultaneous Attack and Defense, Straight Line Punches, and Sensitivity Training.

Center Line Theory 

When you push the side of an object it turns. When you push into the center, the object has to absorb the energy. Wing Chun focuses on striking the "center" of an opponent, maximizing the damage while conserving energy

Simultaneous Attack and Defense

Unlike other systems, Wing Chun maximizes the damage all while minimizing the movements. Wing Chun implements simultaneous attack and defense. At the same time an attack is deflected , the Wing Chun practitioner strikes on the opponent's center. Before the person knows they're blocked they're being hit.

 

What is the Shortest Distance Between Two Points?

A straight line. Wing Chun uses a straight line punch, cutting out all the extra distance a punch needs to travel. This punch makes contact with the bottom three knuckles. This pushes the opponent back and supports the wrist with the elbow and body, preventing possible fractures.

Sensitivity Training

"How do you keep hitting me?"

 

A friend of mine asked as we sparred.

"You keep finding every gap".

This is because Wing Chun enhances the practitioner's ability to "feel" what the enemy's body is doing. This allows for energy conservation while also allowing the Wing Chun user to strike their opponent.

 

This also allows for Wing Chun to be used even in the dark.

Wing Chun also offers you a greater sense of self-worth and fitness. While Wing Chun doesn't require jumping, we train your body to become a fitter, healthier you. You will learn stretches for flexibility. You will develop structural muscle and tendon strength to make your body as healthy as possible.
